Buju Banton Found Guilty

Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae singer Buju Banton was convicted on Tuesday of conspiring to set up a cocaine deal in 2009 after deliberating for 11 hours over two days, a verdict that stunned in disbelief his supporters in a crowded courtroom.

Banton testified that that the informant badgered him after they met on a trans-Atlantic flight in July 2009 from Madrid Spain and insisted that they meet to set up a cocaine purchase. He said he was so uninterested in the informant's proposals that after they met twice, Banton didn't return the man's phone calls for months. In one video, Banton could be seen tasting cocaine in a Sarasota warehouse on December 8, 2009  but was not present during the actual drug deal two days later that led two others to be arrested. Those two men later pleaded guilty.
Buju Banton was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offence and using a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking offence and was acquitted of attempted possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

The Grammy winning reggae artist for his album titled "Before the Dawn" was found guilty of three of four charges, and he could face at least in prison.

Banton stood emotionless as the verdict was being read. Afterwards, he hugged the members of his legal team.

"We love you," Banton's manager Traci McGregor shouted in court immediately after the verdict was read. The artiste similarly responded and told his supporters "Thank you."
An emotional Markus read a statement prepared by Banton after the guilty verdict.

"Our life and our destiny are sometimes pre-destined and no matter where this journey takes me, remember I fought the good fight," said the statement. "It was a great man that said 'my head is bloody but still unbowed'. I love you all. Thank you for your support. Keep loving God."
Banton is to be sentenced in another three months and faces 15 years to life behind bars, Markus said. The lawyer is expected to apply to have Banton's US$250,000 bail restored during the period leading up to the sentence.

Solar Renewal 4 Real

Hello my name is Errol Turner, and I am the Regional Manager for Solar Renewal 4 Life.  I am assisting the federal government in their wish to get everyone moving forward with energy independence.

How it works:
Because there are many options for harnessing energy from the sun, solar power can work in a variety of ways. The most common one is through the use of photovoltaic (PV) technology, which directly transforms sunlight into electricity. It does so through the use of solar or PV cells.
A solar panel is made up of modules of these solar cells. When exposed to the photons found within sunlight, some electrons of the solar cells are knocked loose. These loose electrons create an electrical current which can be harnessed for electrical needs.
Another way that solar power works is through the use of solar thermal collectors, which capture heat from the sun. This method is often used in solar hot water heater systems, and is generally used by large solar power plants which generate electricity by heating water to produce steam which drives an electric generator.
How does solar power work at night?
The fact that solar panels can only gather sunlight during the day is often touted as a major drawback to solar power. However, it is possible to draw the power off into a battery source for later use. In fact, this is the way outdoor solar lights work– they draw energy during the day to power nighttime illumination.
Solar makes sense:
Although the initial cost of solar panels and their accessories (solar lights, etc.) may be considered pricey, the fact of the matter is, it’s much more cost effective over the long term. This is mainly because solar cells and solar panels are long lasting and require very little maintenance. Also, most conventional energy sources are created from a limited supply of fossil fuels and will continue to rise in cost over time, while the energy from the sun will always be widely available and free.  Barring the unlikely reversal of this trend, your overall annual savings will continue to increase the longer you own your solar equipment.  When you also factor in its environmental benefits, and it’s easy to see how switching to solar is a smart decision.
Government Incentives and Rebates Mean You Save Thousands!

There hasn’t been a better time to get started in alternate energy projects for your home or business. With your free energy audit, our professionals will: calculate your average daily amount of sunlight and wind speed, determine what energy system is best for you, estimate the cost of your energy system, as well as, inform you how federal, state, local, and utility companies can provide substantial rebates towards your total cost. Niki Minaj concert causes tension in Trinidad & Tobago

Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Roberts says Government spent over $869,000 on the Nicki Minaj concert, which launched the “Localise It” initiative on October 30. Roberts said so during a news conference which, he said, was called to clarify the ministry’s role in the event and to “come clearer and cleaner” on the issue. This followed a public call by Diego Martin Central MP Dr Amery Browne for an audit into the show. Roberts gave a breakdown of the ministry’s funding of the show which included: local advertising - $150,000; venue infrastructure - $75,000; local fashion show - $60,000; local culture (moko jumbies etc) - $26,000; COTT fees - $32,383; local artistes fees - $40,000; Hilton Trinidad - $60,343; and, Nicki Minaj (her entourage and agent fees) - $382,000.

He said T&T had benefited tremendously since the staging of the concert to launch “Localise It” as there had been several presentations on US television networks. “So at $869,000, already we have generated benefits far outweighing, by 1,000 per cent, what we have spent,” Roberts added. Responding to questions that after Government expended money for the project it benefited a private individual, Roberts said: “The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs does not consider, when it is funding or sponsoring or granting funds to individuals, companies, radio advertising or the like, whether or not the individual (or) company will make a profit. We hope that they will.” He said the proposal “had some merit and the ministry saw some benefit in getting aligned with that product, so if the individual makes a profit, well that’s good.
We wouldn’t like them/our citizens to suffer and make losses.”
Roberts said the ministry’s interest was far-reaching. He said other agencies were funded by the ministry and tickets also were bought to enter the events. He admitted, however, that the concert was not a financial success. Roberts called on Browne to “focus on the facts and stop trying to play games” and accused the Opposition MP “of going on a rampage against Minaj.” The minister denied promoter Darryl Braxton was the main beneficiary from the project. He admitted he had “become close to” Braxton over the past two years but insisted the assistance given to Braxton for the concert had nothing to do with their friendship. He added: “So anybody who is playing malicious or mischievous, Darryl Braxton, I know him for two years, I would not say that he is my friend but we respect each other. He loves Trinidad and Tobago and I love Trinidad and Tobago.
“The key issue is he had the contract with Nicki Minaj—a Trinbagonian superstar—the number one Trinbagonian out there worldwide. He had the paper.” He denied a claim by Browne that youth organisations were denied funding from the ministry in recent weeks because of the expenditure on the concert. Roberts said two projects were not funded because the applications were received three and four days before the dates for the events respectively. Later he said the funding was taken from “part of the youth portion” of the ministry. He insisted, however, that there were many different sections for youth initiatives and the money used for the concert could not impact negatively on any other initiative in the ministry.
He said it was “absolutely false” to say otherwise. Browne said on Monday the money was taken from the Youth Development Programme and it would impact negatively on other initiatives under that programme. Yesterday Browne said if the money was in fact taken from that programme “it will cripple any other youth development events for the rest of the fiscal year.” In response to Roberts’ claim money have similarly been allocated to events, such as the Hampton Games, Browne said those events were funded by non-governmental organisations and sporting associations. He said taxpayers’ contribution to those events was “very different to this concert if the ticket receipts went into private pockets.”

More Info
Leader of the Opposition Dr Keith Rowley is joining Opposition MP Dr Amery Browne in calling for an audit of the Nicki Minaj concert, which was held at the Hasley Crawford Stadium on October 30.
Rowley, who is recuperating from minor surgery, made the call in a release yesterday. Rowley said the call was made in the wake of Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Roberts’ announcement of a Government expenditure of close to $900,000 on the concert.
Rowley added while the project was undertaken in partnership with Braxton, Roberts “is yet to account to the people of T&T on the matter of who benefited financially from the proceeds of the concert.” Rowley insisted: “The Prime Minister, the minister and the Government are the ones who must account on matters relating to the expenditure of public funds.” Rowley stressed: “These questions may be answered in or out of the Parliament but what is undeniable is that the taxpayers of T&T deserve to know from where the $900,000 came and in whose pockets the concert proceeds have gone.”

As many people may know that police corruption in Jamaica is a well known fact and it is at the forefront of the Governments agenda  to clean up the Jamaica Constabulary Force(JCF).

$84.6 Million budget awarded to Independent Commission of Investigations(INDECOM).This special branch was mandated to probe all allegations of abuse and other potentially criminal acts by members of the security forces, including fatal shootings. The disclosure was made in Parliament, as Finance Minister Audley Shaw unveiled supplementary estimates for the 2010-2011 fiscal year, the budget was given to carry out its daily activities.

From $86.4 million budget, $63.8 million derived from the police Bureau of Special Investigations which was replaced by Independent Commission of Investigations(INDECOM)and the remaining $22.6 million was retracted from the Ministry of Justice whom was  overseeing the responsibility for the now dismantled Police Public Complaints Authority.

Buju Banton to perform at concert!

Mega reggae star Mark "Buju Banton" Myrie won his appeal against a motion that denied him the right to perform at a concert that was filed back on November 23, 2010 which was dismissed by United States Judge Anthony Porcelli under the grounds that the artist was a flight risk..

On, December 1, 2010 in a ruling made by Judge James Moody addressed the issue by stating that Mark  Myrie was no longer a flight risk once he was released on bail so the previous ruliing was overturned.

Mega Reggae Artist "Buju"
Buju Banton's Attorney David Oscar Markus stated that he was grateful for the ruling which would allow his client to be able to earn an income which is much needed to pay for his security detail which is costing Buju some US$20,000 monthly.

The concert to be named "Before The Dawn" which is being produced by Rockers Island will be held at the Bayfront Amphithearte in downtown Miami on Biscayne Blvd. Sunday January 16, 2011.

Buju Banton was incarcerated for eleven months at Pinellas County Jail in Tampa Florida after he was picked up at his home in Tamarac Florida shortly after the arrest of James Mack and Ian Thomas during a sting operation in Saratoga Florida while attempting to purchase a controlled substance.

Buju Banton's Latest album "Before The Dawn" is among the nominees for best Reggae Album for next years Grammy Awards.

Nakisaki 25th Anniversary

Nakisaki will be celebrating its 25 years of serving in Caribbean Chinese Cuisine inside their newly renovated restaurant located in the village of  Hempstead Long Island NY on Sunday December 5th.Nakisaki was established 1985 in Rosedale section of Queens by a popular Jamaican artist known by many as Mr.Earl (Nakisaki) Lyn Sr.with one of the most prominent Ska Band " The Mighty Mystics."It was during this formulation of the Roots Rock Reggae era that Mr. Lynn decided solidify his presence within his community through shear determination and creativity to invest in his vision of opening a restaurant rival to any elegant Manhattan ambiance setting. It was designed to accommodate his surrounding community where one could sit, eat, socialize and reminisce about their timeless childhood and current events.

During the 1990's Mr.Earl Lynn Sr.along with his wife through strong will and determination embarked on another mission of opening a second location in Hempstead Long Island which still stands proudly at 276 Fulton Avenue today with the guidance and expertise of his wife Mrs. Pat Lyn whom is of  Jamaican Indian decent.Their children Paul, Earl Lyn Jr.and daugther Deborah has nourished their parents dreams and visions and continue to work timelessly and endlessly to continue their family's triumphs.

Sadly, on August 29th 2009 the untimely death of Mr.Earl "Nakisaki from Shanghai" as he was often introduced by local MC's during his musical career according to his daughter Deborah was such a loss to the Caribbean community as he was the pioneer of Caribbean fine dining and a milestone for our culture.

Nakisaki is quintessential to what fine Jamaican Chinese dining is all about as it stands alone in this capacity.During all my years of going out to eat I have never came across any other Caribbean restaurant establishment that offers such elegance. With a true open feel but yet cozy this is somewhere you could even romance a stone with such an upscale feel.
It's capacity comfortably seats 230 diners, a catering hall, bar and night club where many well known Caribbean artist has gracefully performed with the like of Freddie Mcgregor, the Mighty Sparrow,Calypso Rose and the uprising star Gytian to name a few.

So, to put it all into perspective if you have never been to Nakisaki and you have only heard about it and you would like to be a part of this achievement then this is your opportunity to attend this special event at no cost to be entertained by Frankie Paul beginning at 6:00pm.

I wanna say thank you all, for taking the time for reading and subscribing to our blog and would love your continued support from friends and families so that CStyleTV can share our views, news, previews and entertainment so that this may be a successful endeavor...
